Her childhood was a nightmare as she was raised by her grandmother was sadistic and cruel. Kit escaped when she was 16 and she heard the song of her late mother's blade. Daniel Lanois composed much of the movie's music, "Asylum" included, and his tunes are definitely the pick of the soundtrack. With their deliberate rhythms and slow (some might say endless) pace, tracks like "Asylum," "Jimmy Was," and "Secret Place" actually seem to transport you into the movie's setting, the woods and back roads of the Deep South. As an urban fantasy, it races along, and I think the world J C Daniels has created is very interesting and I look forward to learning more about it and the magical races who people it.
